There will be training provided for all positions, but here is a quick rundown of each

Set Up - Providing assistance setting up the venue to competition standards. This may involve building the platform or the Warm-up Room, assembling pipe & drape, setting up chairs, any needed technology, etc.

Registration - Checking lifters in for their flight and handing out their swag (t-shirt, name badge, etc.)

Announcer - This role announces the order of lifters (next 3) and their weights and letting spectators know whether the lift was successful or not. This person keeps the meet flowing, gives sponsor shout outs, and hypes up the crowd. - There will be an announcing guide sent to you and you’ll have an announcing screen to use during the meet.

Live Stream Commentary - Provide real-time narration during the session, including announcing upcoming and current lifters, the weight being attempted, and notable achievements such as personal bests or provincial records. Offer clear, engaging commentary on each attempt, indicating whether the lift was successful and, when possible, briefly explaining the reason for any failed lifts..

Head Table

  • Data Entry - This role takes charge of entering the data into the SumPL Meet system: Lifter info, rack heights, and attempts before and during the competition.

  • Attempt Taker - This role is responsible for taking attempt cards from Lifters/ handlers and recording them in the lifter cards, as well as, marking whether an attempt was successful or not.

  • Timer - This role keeps track of the 2 timers running. The first timer is a 60 second clock that is given to the lifter to get the start command. This timer starts when a lifter is called to the platform through “The bar is loaded”. The second timer is 60 seconds for lifters to submit their next attempt. This timer starts when the lights for their previous attempt are given.

    • They also act as a back up to fill in for the Data Entry role and the Attempt Taker role when breaks are needed or assistance is required.

Platform Manager - This role is in charge of leading the team of Spotter/ Loaders. They keep track of the weight being loaded onto the barbell, the rack heights, and keeping the team focused and on task. The must complete a check to make sure the weight and rack height match their tablet, and notify the head referee when the bar is ready.

Spotter/Loader - There are 5 roles per session. Responsible for following the directions given by the Platform Manager, loading the correct weight onto the barbell, and adjusting the combo rack height. You will also be responsible for spotting the lifters and ensuring their safety during the lift, assisting the lifter with re-racking their lift, and potentially handing off Bench Press attempts.

Warm-Up Room Marshall - This role manages the warm-up room space. Their task is to keep an eye on the lifters and their handlers to ensure everyone is following the rules. All handlers/ coaches should have a wristband to indicate they are allowed in the space and athletes will be dressed in competition attire and have name badges. Coaches will need to be dressed in proper coaching attire (which can be found in the IPF rule book). This role will also keep unnecessary people out of the space and make sure it is kept tidy (plates on plate trees, athlete equipment in bags, etc.)

Floater - The role is responsible for filling in in different roles when people need breaks, running to grab drinks and snacks for people who can't leave their positions, assisting the Warm-up Room Marshal with tidying the warm-up room, keep all spaces tidy, as well as, any additional tasks required that are not within this list.

Tear Down - This consists of helping to clean up and tear down the meet once the competition has concluded. Packing away equipment, picking up garbage, disassembling the racks, pipe & drape, platform, etc.
